History
Photo of Bird House at Barker CreekThe Village of Barker Creek was founded in 1855 by the Copeland family.  By the late 1800’s Barker Creek was host to train tracks and a depot, a baseball team, band, tuition supported singing school, post office, shoemaker and livery. Area residents came to Barker Creek for supplies, mail, church, and social functions.  By the early 1900’s Barker Creek was on the decline, and now all you’ll find are two markers, and a couple of homes.

In 1993, Terry Bertrand and Gordon Coy took ownership of a small nursery in the heart of the old village of Barker Creek.  Their dream was to expand the nursery to include more plants and services, keep the nursery open 3 seasons, and to recreate some of the old village.

To date, the nursery has tripled in size and now offers much more than plants and landscaping services.  The hope is to establish a 501c3 non-profit organization in the near future, with the distinct purpose of bringing back some of the history and buildings of the old Barker Creek.
